Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District and former Governor of Plateau State, Simon Bako Lalong, has felicitated with the Catholic Archbishop of Jos, Most Rev. Dr. Matthew Ishaya Audu, on the occasion of his 67th birthday.

Senator Lalong described Archbishop Audu as a humble servant of God, a committed shepherd of the faithful, and a distinguished advocate of peace, reconciliation, and human development whose ministry has continued to impact lives across Plateau State and beyond.

Lalong recalled with gratitude the appointment of Archbishop Audu as the Archbishop of Jos by His Holiness Pope Francis in January 2020 during his tenure as Governor of Plateau State.

He said the elevation was widely welcomed by the people of the State because of the Archbishop’s reputation for integrity, compassion, and commitment to the common good.

The Senator particularly commended Archbishop Audu for his invaluable contributions to the peace and reconciliation efforts championed by the Rescue Administration.

He noted that the Archbishop played a significant role in fostering dialogue among communities and supporting initiatives aimed at healing divisions and promoting peaceful coexistence.

According to Senator Lalong, one of the memorable milestones of this collaboration was the hosting of the Forgiveness Day programme, which brought together people from diverse backgrounds to embrace reconciliation, mutual understanding, and the spirit of forgiveness as essential foundations for lasting peace in Plateau State.

Lalong said Archbishop Audu has consistently demonstrated exemplary leadership in advancing peace, justice, and human dignity. His voice has remained a source of hope and moral guidance during challenging periods, while his ministry continues to inspire unity among our people.

The Senator thanked God for preserving the Archbishop in good health and granting him wisdom and strength in the service of God and humanity. He prayed for many more years of fruitful ministry, divine protection, and continued impact in the Church and society.
