The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has urged the Federal University of Education (FUE) Pankshin to increase its revenue generation profile through entrepreneurship.
Mrs Bolanle Yusuf, Head, Training at the ITF)l, Jos Area office, gave the advice during a courtesy visit on Prof. Noel Wannang, Vice Chancellor (V-C) of FUE Pankshin on Thursday.
Yusuf said tertiary institutions were not established to impact only conventional knowledge but were also expected to develop entrepreneural skills to develop students and bring additional income to the schools.
She, therefore, urged the institution to embark on personal business ventures through the entrepreneurship unit to boost its internally generated revenue.
Yusuf also called on the university management to take advantage of the Skill-Up Artisans (SUPA) programme, where the Federal Government, through ITF, was training Nigerian youths on different skills acquisition.
She explained that the SUPA was a programme where youths were being trained and paid allowance, and the school would also be generating income through the consultancy and entrepreneurship unit.
“We need well equipped centres to train the youths, the university has to meet up with the standards, so we are calling on them to equip the entrepreneurship unit to train the youths,” she added.
Responding, Wannang thanked the ITF delegation for the visit and assured them of the university’s continued support and collaboration.
Wannang appreciated the role of ITF in training youths and students through SIWES to build a better society.
The V-C also assured the ITF that the school would encourage entrepreneurship and would also take advantage of the opportunities that the SUPA was providing.
Mr Longtong Yadok, Registrar of the university, thanked the delegation on behalf of the school management for the visit. ((NAN)
