Kebbi assembly gets new Speaker months after demise of Usman Zuru

Members of the Kebbi State House of Assembly have unanimously elected the member,representing Sakaba Constituency, Salihu Maikasuwa Dangoje, as the new Speaker of the Assembly.

Dangoje’s emergence came two months after the demise of the former Speaker, Muhammad Usman Zuru, who passed away on the 6th April, 2026.

At the Plenary on Wednesday, the member representing Ngaski Constituency, Adamu Muhammad Birnin-Yauri, who nominated Dangoje for the exalted position, described him as a man of integrity, with requisite legislative experience, who has spent 11 years as a legislator.

After taking the oath of office, Rt. Hon. Dangoje pledged to uphold the confidence reposed in him by carrying every member along.

“I pledge to strengthen the unity of the House and operate in harmony with the Executive Arm, under Governor Nasir Idris”, Dangoje said.

The Speaker, a beneficiary of zoning, hailed from Kebbi South, had held several positions in the parliament, including Chairman House Committee on information.
