Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Caucus in the House of Representatives, Hon. Afam Victor Ogene, has emerged as the party’s consensus candidate for Ogbaru Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election.

The decision was reached at the party’s National Assembly primary held in Atani, headquarters of Ogbaru Local Government Area, on Friday, May 29, 2026.

Ogene, who is seeking re-election, thanked party members for backing him, attributing his emergence to his record of “quality representation, integrity in service, and servant-leadership” that has endeared him to constituents.

He urged supporters to begin door-to-door sensitization and voter mobilization across Ogbaru ahead of next year’s poll. “This will help the NDC secure a comprehensive victory in the 2027 general elections — including the presidential, senatorial, House of Representatives, and State Assembly elections,” he said.

Ogene assured constituents that he would not let them down and remained committed to prioritizing the interests of the Ogbaru people.
