2027: Kebbi Governor Idris seeks royal blessings for self, President Tinubu

Barely one week after his endorsement as the All Progressives Congress (APC) kebbi state Governorship flag bearer for 2027 general elections, Comrade Nasir Idris has embarked on a notification and blessing-seeking visit to the Emirs in the state.

The first leg of the visit that commenced at the weekend was at Palace of the Emir of Gwandu Alhaji Muhammadu Ilyasu Bashar and was the company of prominent stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in the state, including a former Governor Ambassador Sa’idu Nasamu Dakingari, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Senator Atiku Abubakar Bagudu, the state chairman of the party Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana Zuru, friends and political associates.

This was contained in a statement by Abdullahi Idris Sadaukin Zuru, Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy to Kebbi State Governor.

Comrade Idris has from the onset, told the Emir that he was at the Palace to formally notify him of the resolution of the membership of the All Progressives Congress in Kebbi state to unanimously endorse him and President Bola Tinubu as candidates of the party in the forthcoming general elections.
In addition to the notification, the Comrade Governor disclosed that he was there to request for a special prayer for God’s guidance and blessing in the course of their political activities from the Royal Father, a decendant of the renowned Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Abdullahi Ibn Fodio.
The governor made it categorically clear that he was not at the Palace for electioneering campaigns in view of the fact that traditional rulers are apolitical and campaigns are yet to be authorised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He emphasised that the visit is an established tradition in the state and recalled that he was in the team that visited the Palace with the governorship candidates in 1999, 2007, 2011, and 2014. He added that he was also aware of similar visits by President obasanjo, Umaru Musa Yar’adua, President Jonathan, Muhammadu Buhari, and recently Bola Ahmed Tinubu, seeking for prayers, Allah’s guidance and blessings.
Comrade Governor Nasir, who holds the prestigious traditional title of Kauran Gwandu, requested the Emir to bless the endorsement of President Bola Tinubu and Comrade Governor Nasir Idris by the members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and pray for God’s guidance towards eventual victory at the polls.
He declared that both him and President Bola Tinubu have maintained a cordial relationship with the traditional institutions in view of their commitment, dedication, and selfless services towards improving the well-being of the people.
While receiving the Governor and his entourage, the Emir who is also the Chairman of the state council of chiefs expressed gratitude for the honour and prayed for God’s guidance, pledged to be fair and just to all. He, however, reminded the politicians to note the increasing public awareness of their rights there has been awareness among the electorates on their right to decide their fate in democratic governance, putting into consideration the politicians with the capacity and antecedent of track record of selfless services.
From Birnin Kebbi, Comrade Governor proceeded to Argungu, where he also visited the Emir Alhaji Samaila Mera, who commended the governor for the significant milestone achieved by his administration. He prayed for God’s guidance and blessings for the governor’s continued efforts in developing the state and called for hitch-free electioneering campaigns.
Comrade Governor Nasir is expected to undertake similar visits to Yauri and Zuru Emirates for the same purpose.
