Speaking during an interview on one of the TV in the country and monitored by our correspondent, Umeh explained that a mutual associate introduced Obi to him in search of political support for his gubernatorial ambition.
According to Umeh, he took time to study Obi’s curriculum vitae and was impressed by the scale of his business achievements. He revealed that Obi’s company reportedly recorded an annual turnover of about $25 million at the time.
Umeh noted that Obi did not carry himself like someone managing such a massive business empire, which sparked his curiosity about Obi’s personality and his ability to navigate the harsh realities of Nigerian politics.
He further stated that many of Obi’s classmates and associates had described him as a wealthy man, although they also said he was known for being careful and disciplined with money.
