Engr. Patrick C. Ndubueze has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress primary for the Imo North Senatorial District, securing the party’s ticket for the Okigwe Zone with a wide margin.

According to the final collation announced by Returning Officer Rt. Hon. Amaechi Nwoha, Ndubueze polled 108,862 votes to defeat former Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, who garnered 79 votes.

Ndubueze’s victory was bolstered by the voluntary withdrawal of several high-profile aspirants ahead of the primary. Chief Longers Anyanwu, Dr. Gloria Akobundu, and Chief Ike Odoeme stepped down following an agreement brokered by critical stakeholders from the zone. The accord was facilitated by State Party Chairman Hon. Austin Onyedebulu and supported by Governor Hope Uzodinma.

Speaking to supporters after his declaration, Ndubueze credited his win to God and to the support of party stakeholders. He described the withdrawing aspirants as “strategic partners in progress” who demonstrated sportsmanship in the interest of party unity.

He also acknowledged Governor Uzodinma’s role, saying the governor had been “a crucial vessel” in his political journey from his first election to the Senate and through the latest primary.

Ndubueze, popularly known as the “Legacy Senator” of the South East, will now represent the APC in the Imo North Senatorial contest.
