The Agbu Kefas Continuity Movement has welcomed all aspirants contesting for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in Taraba State, describing their participation as a healthy reflection of democratic values.
In a statement issued on Saturday, by Mallam Ibrahim Ardo, Coordinator, Agbu Kefas Continuity Movement, the group noted that while the entrance of multiple contenders into the race is commendable, it remains convinced that Taraba State is firmly on the path of progress under the leadership of Governor Agbu Kefas.
“We welcome every aspirant into the race. That is the beauty of democracy,” the statement said. “However, we are more than convinced that Taraba is moving in the right direction under Governor Kefas, and it is only fair and strategic to allow him complete the many transformative initiatives he has already set in motion.”
The movement stressed that, regardless of the number of aspirants, APC members across the state will ultimately rally behind Governor Kefas as the party’s flag bearer in 2027.
“In any fair and transparent contest, we are confident that party members will overwhelmingly choose Governor Kefas to fly the APC flag,” it stated.
The group further described Governor Kefas as not only the strongest candidate in the race but also the most suitable for a consensus arrangement, citing his leadership record and growing acceptance across the state.
“Governor Kefas represents the best that consensus can produce — a unifying figure with proven capacity, broad appeal, and a clear development agenda,” the statement added.
According to the movement, experience has shown that many governors achieve even greater results during their second tenure, having gained deeper insight into governance and established the necessary structures for accelerated development.
“Governor Kefas has demonstrated vision, energy, and commitment in his first term. A second tenure will consolidate these gains and deliver even more impactful results for the people of Taraba.”
Highlighting his strengths, the group pointed to Kefas’ experience, national and international connections, and his track record of positively impacting lives across sectors.
“Governor Kefas is not driven by sentiment, grievance, or desperation. His leadership is defined by purpose, service, and a genuine commitment to the development of Taraba State.”
The movement called on party members and stakeholders to remain united and focused on sustaining the progress already achieved.
“This is a time for unity, not division. Governor Kefas remains a vibrant, energetic, and people-focused leader. We urge all stakeholders to support his re-election so that Taraba can continue on the path of stability, growth, and transformation.”
