The Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘B’ of the Nigeria Customs Service has intensified its crackdown on endangered species trafficking, intercepting two shipments of live pangolins in two weeks along the Kano-Jigawa axis.
In a statement signed by the Acting Public Relations Officer and made available to newsmen on Thursday
The latest seizure occurred on March 26, 2026, when operatives flagged down a suspicious vehicle and discovered the endangered mammals concealed inside. This follows a similar operation on March 12, 2026.
According to the Comptroller of the Unit, Comptroller Aminu Sule, stated that the seizures were made pursuant to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), and that investigations are ongoing to dismantle the syndicate responsible.

Pangolins are the most trafficked mammals globally, and the Nigeria Customs Service is committed to enforcing environmental laws and international treaties to protect Nigeria’s biodiversity.
