The Coalition of Nigerian Youths on Security and Safety Affairs (CONYSSA) has urged the Nigeria Police Force to prioritize tackling banditry, insurgency, and kidnapping over enforcing tinted glass regulations. CONYSSA’s Director General, Amb. Ade Mario Emmanuel, said the police should focus on withdrawing personnel assigned as escorts to individuals and dignitaries who don’t contribute significantly to the economy and redeploy them to areas where they’re urgently needed.

“In a press statement signed by Maryam Aminu, CONYSSA Director of Media, CONYSSA expressed concern over the nation’s security situation, urging the Nigeria Police Force to prioritize tackling real threats like banditry, insurgency, and kidnapping over enforcing tinted glass regulations. According to CONYSSA, the police should focus on areas where kidnappers actually operate, such as forests and bushes, rather than stopping vehicles on highways for tinted glass checks. The coalition also advised the Inspector General of Police to respect a subsisting court order restraining the enforcement of tinted glass regulations and to halt harassment and intimidation of law-abiding citizens. CONYSSA emphasized that Nigerians need safer highways, communities, and a functional security system

Amb. Mario, further emphasized that Nigerians need a functional security system. “Our challenges as a nation are far bigger than tinted glass. The Nigeria Police Force must rise to the urgent task of combating banditry, insurgency, and kidnapping .

Aluta News reports that Federal High Court sitting in Warri, Delta State, on Friday ordered the Nigeria Police Force and the Inspector-General of Police to suspend the enforcement of the tinted glass permit by vehicle owners.

The court asked the police and the IGP to maintain the status quo and “respect judicial processes pending further proceedings in the matter.”
