APC SHOCKED: Chieftain Dr. Abubakar Sadiq Fakai Jumps Ship to ADC, Party’s Integrity Movement in Disarray”

Dr. Abubakar Sadiq Fakai, national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Integrity Movement, has resigned from the party to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). In a letter dated July 24, 2025, Fakai cited a period of introspection and earnest dialogue with his conscience regarding the party’s current direction.

Fakai’s explained that his resignation follows extensive consultation with his family, leaders, friends, and constituents, who collectively expressed concerns over the party’s deviation from the path of good governance and inconsistency in meeting the expectations of Nigerians. This move is a significant blow to the APC, particularly within the APC National Integrity Movement, a formidable support group he founded.

The APC National Integrity Movement, recognized for its tireless efforts in mobilizing support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party in the last general election, is expected to suffer a serious setback with Fakai’s exit. More leaders of the movement are reportedly planning to join him in the ADC, potentially weakening the APC’s support base.

As a former national APC Northwest youth leader, Fakai’s influence spans across 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. His departure removes a crucial figure who worked tirelessly to mobilize support for the APC and President Tinubu. The APC National Integrity Movement’s spread across states makes Fakai’s exit a significant loss for the party.

This development is the latest in a series of high-profile defections from the APC, with several notable figures joining the ADC. As the political landscape continues to evolve, Fakai’s move is likely to have far-reaching implications for both the APC and the ADC.
