The Federal Government has emphasized the importance of collective mentorship in shaping the boy-child’s future. Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, made this call during the 2025 International Day of the Boy-Child celebration, themed “Grooming the Boy-Child & Leveraging Mentorship for Leadership and Governance.”
The Minister highlighted the challenges facing today’s society, where many fathers and male role models have limited involvement in the lives of their sons, negatively impacting their emotional and moral development. “Mentorship is crucial,” Olawande stressed. “It offers our boys the guidance, counsel, and encouragement they need to grow into confident and capable future leaders.”
To address these challenges, the government is committed to creating platforms that foster leadership and mentorship for young boys, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. “The boy-child is a vital part of our society,” the Minister emphasized. “It is our collective duty to provide opportunities for empowerment, regardless of background or economic status.”
Aluta News reports that the event brought together prominent stakeholders, including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Olubunmi Olusanya, and other dignitaries. By prioritizing mentorship, the government aims to equip the boy-child with the necessary skills, values, and support to thrive in society and become future leaders.
