The Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has added another remarkable achievement to his record as he was honoured with the Distinguished Personality of the Year Award by Triangle Magazine International. The award ceremony was held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Goldsmiths, University of London, New Cross.

The prestigious award recognizes Hon. Tunji-Ojo’s outstanding contributions to public service and leadership, both in Nigeria and across the African continent. His performance as a transformative public servant has earned him accolades for representing Africa, Nigeria, and Ondo State with distinction on the global stage.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Nelson Aremo praised the Minister’s efforts, describing him as a “commendable ambassador” and “a role model for the Akoko North West Local Government Area.” He noted that Tunji-Ojo’s leadership style and dedication to service continue to inspire hope and progress.

Dignitaries in attendance included Honourable Otito Atikase, Commissioner representing Ondo State on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) board; Hon. Mrs. Fayemi of the Ondo State House of Assembly; and Mrs. Yinka Tunji-Ojo, the proud mother of the award recipient. The strong representation from Ondo State highlighted the local pride in Tunji-Ojo’s achievements.

During his keynote address, Hon. Tunji-Ojo delivered a thought-provoking message, stating:
“Real men anticipate problems and create solutions before the arrival of the problem. Your network is a function of your net worth. It’s not the raw materials a nation owns that bring value, but the value you add to it.”

These remarks encapsulate the Minister’s philosophy of proactive leadership and his commitment to sustainable development through innovation and strategic partnerships.

Since his appointment as Minister of Interior, Hon. Tunji-Ojo has overseen key reforms aimed at improving internal security, border management, and service efficiency. His tenure has been widely recognized as a period of dynamic transformation within the ministry.
