ABUJA, NIGERIA – In a show of strength, unity, and commitment to duty, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) yesterday embarked on a Fitness Walk for Life and Route March to mark the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO) Day.

Led by the Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the NSCDC personnel marched through the streets of Abuja, demonstrating their physical fitness and readiness to tackle the nation’s security challenges.

In a post-event address, the Commandant General emphasized the importance of physical fitness in enhancing the performance of NSCDC personnel. “As an agency authorized to bear arms, we must explore all avenues to enhance our manpower,” he stressed.

The ICDO Day celebration will continue on March 3rd at the NSCDC National Headquarters’ Parade Ground, with a series of activities, including a medical outreach, inter-house sports competition, and a friendly football match between NSCDC and the Nigerian Correctionary Service.

This year’s ICDO Day celebration is particularly significant, coming at a time when the nation is grappling with various security challenges. The NSCDC’s commitment to physical fitness and teamwork sends a strong message about its readiness to tackle these challenges head-on.

As the nation looks forward to the continued celebration of ICDO Day, one thing is clear: the NSCDC is more determined than ever to ensure the safety and security of all Nigerians.
