In a remarkable display of inter-agency cooperation, the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr Adedotun Keshinro has attributed its operational successes to the Commandant General’s emphasis on training and retaining personnel, as well as its seamless synergy with other security agencies in the state.
Keshinro made these disclosures on Wednesday during an official engagement with the NAN team, which included Heads of Editorial Operations, Defence and Security Desk, amongst others, in his office in Alausa, Ikeja. The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration between security agencies and the media in promoting national security and development.
According to the Commandant, the Command maintains quality relationships with various stakeholders, including Ministries and Parastatals, Traditional Institutions, Religious Institutions, Private Sector, and Members of the Armed Forces. This collaborative approach has enabled the NSCDC to achieve significant operational successes in 2024, including the apprehension of railway vandals, oil thieves, and vandals, as well as offenders involved in gender and sexual-based violence.
The Commandant General’s uncompromising penchant for training and retaining personnel has been identified as a major factor responsible for the NSCDC’s unflinching synergy with other security agencies. The Lagos State Command has worked closely with agencies such as the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Department of State Security (DSS), Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to maintain peace and security in the state.
The NSCDC’s proactive approach has earned praise from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), which commended the Command’s efforts in combatting economic saboteurs and oil thieves. The Head of Lagos Office, NAN, Mr. Adeleye Ajayi, noted that the NSCDC has been proactive and uncontroversial in its operations, demonstrating its commitment to safeguarding national assets and protecting the citizens of Lagos State.
