Dana Air Boss on the Run! Court Orders Arrest of MD Hathiramani Ranesh”

A Federal High Court in Abuja issued an arrest warrant for Hathiramani Ranesh, Dana Air’s Managing Director, on Monday for failing to appear in court to face trial. This development comes after the Attorney-General of the Federation filed six counts against Ranesh and two other defendants, Dana Group PLC and Dana Steel Limited, in connection with an alleged N1.3 billion fraud case
According to Justice Obiora Egwuatu, Ranesh’s absence from court despite being served warrants his arrest,
The defense lawyer claimed Ranesh was out of the country, but the judge wasn’t having it, stating, “Are we playing here? Where is the respect for the court when the people you are defending are not in court?”
The court ordered Ranesh’s arrest, citing Section 266 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015, which allows for a warrant if a defendant fails to appear . Ranesh is expected to appear before the court on January 13, 2025 .
