The National Civil Society Council of Nigeria (NCSCN) has called out Dangote Refinery Ltd (DRL) for transparency regarding its pricing and operational practices, amid a heated controversy with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPCL).
The NCSCN’s Executive Director, Mr. Blessing Akinlosotu, expressed concerns at a world press conference in Abuja, citing Dangote’s accusations against the regulatory body and the preference of other petroleum marketing companies to buy from NNPCL.
NCSCN queries Dangote’s wait for a deal with NNPC LTD to fix PMS prices in a deregulated regime
– Other companies shy away from buying from DRL, despite its in-country location and potential cost savings
– Unclear proposed price and domestic crude supply agreements with NNPCL
According to NCSCN Dangote Refinery’s actions raise questions about its commitment to fairness and transparency,” Akinlosotu said. “We demand clear explanations for its pricing and operational decisions.”
This development follows Dangote’s denial and subsequent admission of receiving crude from NNPCL. The NCSCN commended NNPCL for not allowing Dangote to exploit Nigerians.
The Civil Society Council demand DRL to refute all the above and come out bold enough to tell Nigerians and the entire World, how much PMS has been released to NNPCL at what Price and how much it intends to sell PMS based on processing economic realities, since PMS is a global product and cost of producing a litre is known and in public domain.
