MISGUIDED ANGER OF OHANAEZE YOUTH COUNCIL: Setting the Record Straight on the Ministry of Livestock Development

The recent establishment of the Ministry of Livestock Development by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sparked unfounded concerns and misinterpretations across various regions and ethnic groups in Nigeria. While we understand the apprehensions expressed by the President General of Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), we believe it is essential to provide a comprehensive clarification and address the misconceptions surrounding this visionary initiative.

Firstly, it is crucial to dispel the notion that the Ministry of Livestock Development is an attempt to favor any particular ethnic group or interest. This perspective is misguided and overlooks the broader national benefits that the ministry aims to achieve.

In reality, the establishment of the Ministry of Livestock Development is a forward-thinking initiative designed to address some of Nigeria’s most pressing agricultural and social challenges. The ministry will:

– Enhance agricultural productivity and food security
– Promote economic growth and job creation
– Improve livestock health and disease management
– Strengthen national security and reduce conflicts
– Foster peaceful coexistence and sustainable development

By establishing this ministry, President Tinubu has demonstrated his commitment to driving sustainable development and prosperity for all Nigerians, regardless of ethnic or regional affiliations.

We urge the Ohanaeze Youth Council and other stakeholders to join hands with the government in supporting this laudable initiative, rather than perpetuating misconceptions and divisions.

The newly established Ministry of Livestock Development is poised to revolutionize the agriculture sector in Nigeria, fostering a harmonious environment where farmers and herders can thrive together. By addressing the root causes of conflicts, such as competition for land and water resources, the ministry will implement effective resource management and conflict resolution mechanisms.

This visionary initiative will support all stakeholders in the agriculture value chain, from farmers to processors and distributors, ensuring that the benefits of increased productivity and economic growth are shared equitably across the country.

Moreover, the ministry will promote inclusive economic growth, sustainable land use practices, and national unity by addressing the diverse needs of various communities. This will lead to a more united and prosperous Nigeria, where everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

It’s important to note that the accusation linking the Ministry of Livestock Development to the RUGA initiative is unfounded and misleading. This ministry is a fresh start, built on the principles of sustainability, equity, and national unity.

It’s essential to recognize that the Ministry of Livestock Development is not a covert attempt at ethnic land grabbing, but a deliberate effort to address long-standing conflicts and promote stability. The notion that this ministry aims to arm Fulani herders and perpetuate a threat against the Yoruba people is misguided and unfounded.

President Tinubu is well aware of the historical context and the suffering endured by various ethnic groups, including the Yoruba. The ministry’s policies and initiatives will be inclusive, equitable, and transparent, engaging all stakeholders to address past grievances and ensure benefits for all ethnic groups, without bias or sentiment.

It is also important to understand that this ministry seeks to create a harmonious environment for all, where farmers and herders can coexist peacefully. Urging resistance to livestock reform among other ethnic groups, particularly in the Middle Belt, is counterproductive and may hinder the progress and peace that this ministry aims to achieve.

“The newly established ministry will be dedicated to creating opportunities for all Nigerians, regardless of their ethnic or regional backgrounds. We strive to ensure that no group feels marginalized or disadvantaged, and that everyone has access to the resources and support they need to thrive. By working together, we can make sure that the ministry fulfills its mandate to benefit all Nigerians and contribute to the sustainable development of our great nation. Let us unite in our pursuit of peace, prosperity, and a brighter future for ourselves and generations to come.” –
