Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has denied accusations of embezzling N423 billion during his tenure. The state Assembly’s ad hoc committee had alleged that loans obtained under his administration were misused and not properly secured. El-Rufai maintains that he served with integrity and dismissed the claims. The committee has recommended investigating and prosecuting him and his cabinet members
The statement claimed that officials who served in El-Rufai’s government appeared before the committee with confidence in their service and integrity. However, the committee’s report alleged that loans were misused and not properly secured, leading to recommendations for investigation and prosecution.
The Assembly has also suspended the Commissioner of Finance, Shizer Badda, who served in the same role under El-Rufai’s administration. El-Rufai’s camp maintains that the allegations are unfounded and aimed at tarnishing his reputation.”
