The Ndigbo Youth Parliament, a socio-cultural organization representing Igbo-speaking states, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his one-year anniversary in office. In a statement released on Wednesday, the Hon. Speaker, Rt. Hon. Rikki Nwajiofor, applauded the President’s approval of 30% youth representation in government appointments and various youth empowerment projects.
Nwajiofor urged President Tinubu to empower youths to venture into agriculture and food production, promoting economic growth and self-sufficiency.
The Ndigbo Youth Parliament also congratulated the Governors of Enugu, Abia, and Ebonyi States – Peter Mbah, Alex Otti, and Francis Nwifuru, respectively – on their one-year anniversaries in office.
We appreciate President Tinubu youth-oriented projects and policies, including:
– Institutionalizing 30% youth representation in government appointments
– Restructuring and institutionalizing the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund
– Approving youth empowerment programs and projects
We encourage Mr President to empower youths at the grassroots and support local government autonomy. The local government structure is the closest tier of government to the masses, and suffocating it would hinder development. We urge you to continue prioritizing youth empowerment and grassroots development.
