Tinubu: Supreme Court verdict victory for democracy – Edo-APC Diaspora Council

By Bridget Ikyado

The Director General of Edo-APC Diaspora Council, Dr Legend Asuelime, has described the Supreme Court judgement affirming the election of President Bola Tinubu, as a victory for democracy.

Asuelime said this in a statement issued by the Council’s Publicity Secretary, Comrade Victoria Emike-Okhai, and made available to newsmen on Thursday in Abuja.

According to him, the court has done justice to all issues put up for considerations in the petitions on the merits of the law, without fear or favor.

He said with the election litigation concluded, Nigerians irrespective of their political parties should now support the President to build a greater Nigeria.

The DG said that already, President Tinubu has restated his determination “to meet the great challenges confronting our people.”

Asuelime said that the EDO-APC Diaspora Council thanked God Almighty for the victory, and all party leaders that laboured and contributed to the success of the APC.

He also thanked the State APC Leader, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, zonal leaders and state executive members, as well as the entire Diaspora APC community for their enormous support for the party over the years.

“With this victory, Edo state APC is strategically positioned to take back leadership and restore the dividends of the Renewed Hope Agenda come 2024,” he added.

The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed the petition of former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, seeking to quash Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 election.

The Supreme Court justices also dismissed the petition filed by Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Labour Party, for lacking in merit.
