Catholic Church Seeks One Billion Naira To Hook TV Station On DSTV

The Catholic Church in Nigeria says, it will require about One Billion Naira to launch the Catholic Television to DSTV Satellite and procure digital equipment to improve quality of its broadcast.
The Director of Catholic Television of Nigeria, Rev. Fr. Dr. Patrick Tor Alumuku disclosed this at a ceremony to mark his 65th birthday celebration held at St. Louis Catholic Church, Global Efab Estate in Abuja.
Fr. Alumuku who is also the Arch Diocesan Director of Communications in charge of Abuja Ecclesiastical Province, explained that the funds would be sourced through donations from members of the Church across the country.
He said apart from launching the station on satellite, the one billion Naira budget would be used to finance equipment needed by the Church to boost the quality of broadcasting by the Catholic Television Station.
“The One Billion Naira budget is to pay for entry point into DSTV, processing of licence from NBC, purchase of vehicles for crew members who will be moving around, it’s also about the cameras we need.
He said, to achieve quality standard in broadcasting, the Catholic TV Station would require a minimum of at least 15 number 4k Sonny Cameras for a start as well as 15 editing suites.
“These are Apple editing Suites that are good for high quality resolution for videos and then at least one year salary must be set aside to pay for my staff before we take off so that I do not start running around looking for money to pay my staff when we get to DSTV”, Alumuku added.
He noted that the provision of the basic standard equipment and the one year salary guarantee were a major condition to have stability in the journey and success of the station after launching its presence on DSTV.
Fr. Alumuku described the occasion as “opportunity to thank God for all his love and kindness to me which he has shown in so many ways in the past 65 years”.
He urged Nigerian Government to invest more on security and things that are capable of promoting peaceful coexistence among citizens.
“The one thing that Nigeria need to do to achieve greatness is to promote internal peace and security. With peace, we have a capacity and possibility of moving forward”.
The Catholic Communications Director appealed for the cessation of hostilities between Israel and Hamas following a recent surprised attack on Israel by Hamas.
“This is the major reason that has retarded the growth of Palestine and delayed Israel from achieving greatness. Israel would have been a major war power today but it has intentions that are created, perhaps not by itself but by others”.
