Benue Exco Retreat, meant to equip govt officials

Benue state Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has declared open a two-day Exco Retreat in Abuja with a charge on participants to ensure that knowledge acquired at the retreat is applied during their official assignments.
He said the Retreat was necessitated by the utmost need to properly equip government officials, particularly, principal officers of government house, cabinet members and Special Advisers to the Governor with the needed knowledge preparatory to the task ahead.

The Governor, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Hon. Sam Ode, went further to explain that the Retreat is also meant to accord cabinet members an avenue to relate and interact amongst themselves as well as get abreast with the cardinal aspects of the policy direction of Gov. Alia administration.
He stated that Knowledge gotten here will be useful for them to effectively man their various MDAs and give Benue the service delivery that would add value to governance in the states”.
In his keynote address, Rotimi Oladele, a consultant who spoke on the topic, “Engaging Leadership, Governance, and Entrepreneurship for Development, Peace, and Sustainability” emphasized the need for the society to move away from literacy to functional education.
He further stated that policymakers and lawmakers should be volunteers with wisdom, expertise, and experience who require no “Ghana Must Go” bags of money to do what is required.
He emphasized that for jobs to be created, every sector has something to offer in sports, tourism, oil and gas, culture, solid minerals, entertainment etc.
“We need to re-invent, security, peace, harmony, and patriotism”.
