The Conference of Benue Journalists (CBJ) has challenged the Benue State governor-elect Reverend Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Allia of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to work assiduously towards providing good governance capable of improving the lives of the people.
CBJ, in a statement issued on Wednesday by it’s President Dr. Anule Emmanuel, congratulated Frather Alia and his deputy governor-elect Dr. Sam Ode on their victory in the last Saturday’s general election.
The group said Fr. Alia was coming at a trying time when the state is in dire need of purposeful, sincere, and committed leadership.
According to Dr. Anule, “Your well-deserved victory bestows a degree of trust in your capacity to lead Benue State in a most sincere, genuine, purposeful, and committed manner while striving to engender
speedy economic growth and the wellbeing of our people.
“We expect you to swing into action immediately after your inauguration on May 29 in tackling the lingering issues of non payment of salaries/pensions, decaying infrastructure, insecurity, and other frontline challenges that have conspired to slow down the wheel of progress in our dear state,” the statement added.
The group said, now that the elections are over, Fr. Alia and his deputy after their inauguration should strive sincerely towards uniting the people of Benue, irrespective of their political affiliations in order to create a peaceful atmosphere that will galvanize the expected good governance during their tenure.
