FIRS boss tasks winner of guber election to prioritise security, infrastructure development in Niger

Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue (FIRS), Mr Muhammad Nami, has called on winner of the governorship election in Niger to focus on development of critical infrastructure and address insecurity bedeviling the state.

He made the call with newsmen after casting his vote for the Governorship and House of Assembly elections at Nami polling unit in Nami community of Agaie Local Government Area of Niger.

Nami explained that whoever emerged winner of the governorship election should prioritise infrastructure development, insecurity and social amenities for businesses and economic activities to strive in the state.

“Whoever emerges as governor, we have infrastructure and security issues he should be able to fix them and he should come up with unique initiative that will fix social amenities like water and should be given priorities.

“If there is peace and if people are being taken care of, as far as their health is concerned, and critical infrastructure is addressed, businesses will strive and economic activities will improve,” he said.

He, however, described the election process as transparent and peaceful, adding that the use of BIVAS had made voting easy as accreditation of voters was being followed immediately with voting.

Also, Sen. Sani Musa, representing Niger East Senatorial District, described the election as peaceful, transparent and credible, adding that INEC had done a perfect job in the use of BIVAS which had made the voting process easy and fast.

Musa, who cast his vote at Anguwan Galadima one polling unit in Paiko, expressed optimism that his party, the APC, would emerge winner of the governorship election, adding that the outcome of the election would be acceptable by all.

Similarly, Prof. Nasiru Maiturai, former Vice Chancellor of IBB University, said the election process had been smooth and commended the electorate for turning out in large numbers to exercise their franchise.

He appealed to contestants to accept outcome of the election in good fate and as an act of God.

He also tasked the people to work together with those who would emerge winners to contribute their quota to the current challenges facing the state such as insecurity and restiveness.
