The National Youth Council of Nigeria(NYCN), FCT Chapter has called on the Federal Government to resolve the untold hardship Nigerians are suffering due to scarcity of the newly redesigned naira.

Mr Ango Suleiman, Chairman of the NYCN, FCT chapter, made the call on behalf of the NYCN national president in Abuja on Tuesday.

“We have unanimously agreed that we must have to embark on a protest as directed by the president of the NYCN that by Thursday, 16th of February, we are going to embark on a protest.

“It is observed that indeed the naira redesign and fuel scarcity has brought a whole lot of hardship to Nigerians, who are no longer safe in their respective domains.

“ It has been reported recently that in our localities within the vicinity of the FCT, youths have started participating in what we are not known with such as burning houses,’’ Suleiman said.

He warned that some youths had attempted to burn banks in the FCT, which unfortunately would give a negative impression to the reputation of the country, of which the NYCN stalled.

“We are calling the attention of the CBN governor to know that CBN is strategically located in the FCT and we cannot afford to allow that to happen.

“We cannot allow our youths to come and disrupt the administrative and whatever responsibilities they have been discharging there,’’ he said.

The Chairman of the NYCN, FCT chapter pleaded with the Federal Government to do the needful on, or before Thursday.

“On Thursday, the FCT Youth are going to embark on protest as directed by the president.

“This protest if done, we don’t know how it’s going to look like because the hardship is becoming unbearable by the day,’’ Suleiman said.
