The National Union of Road Transport Workers ( NURTW) Niger State council has endorsed both the APC presidential and gubernatorial candidates, Sen. Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago as their sole candidate for the presidential and governorship elections, come 2023 as the Union appointed Bago as their Grand patron.
The State Chairman of the Union, Alhaji Garba Musa Bala, said Bago deserved the Union’s every support as he has always identified with them.
He disclosed that the APC candidate in 2018 donated three Sharon buses to the council, and contributed to the completion of the council’s conference hall as well as attended the Union’s 40th Anniversary, adding that the kind gesture endeared the APC candidate to the generality of their members and massively voted for him in the last general elections.
He added that to get it right, there was a need to vote for Tinubu as the President, especially, with his unrivaled records and pedigrees to achieve the desired goal.
In his response, Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago, thanked the Union for the unwavering love and support they have been according to him and for accepting him as one of their own.
He then assured the Unionists, that the construction and rehabilitation of roads would be the second priority of his government after security.
“If the Union is well organized, we shall collaborate with her and create wealth for the state, while they get a certain percentage too from the proceeds”, Bago asserted.
He urged them to vote for APC from top to bottom, as he donated three Sharon buses to the Union, one each for the three senatorial zones of the state, with a cash donation of five million Naira (N5m).
