The Nasarawa Government is to partner the Industrial Training Fund ( ITF) on effective management of the Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Skill Acquisition Centre, Lafia, for the development of the state.
The state Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, disclosed this on Friday in Lafia while playing host to the ITF delegation led by its Director General, Sir Joseph Ari.
Akabe said that the state government established the skills acquisition centre in order to train the indigenes on different skills to enable them to become self-reliant and employers of labour.
“I want to appreciate you for the visit and to assure you of government’s readiness to partner you on the effective management of the newly established vocational and skill acquisition centre.
“The importance of acquisition of skills by our people and other Nigerian cannot be overemphsised,” he said.
The deputy governor noted that government would take advantage of the ITF Area Office in Lafia to ensure adequate training of the citizens on different skills.
Akabe restated the state government’s continued commitment to training of the people on different skills for improved standard of living.
Earlier, Ari said the visit was in response to the state government’s reguest for technical support in the newly established Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Skill Acquisition Centre, Lafia.
The director general said that the mandate of the agency was to provide, promote and encourage acquisition of skills by Nigerians.
He added that the agency was willing to partner the state government in impacting the necessary technical skills and other knowledge on the citizens .
The director general commended the state government for establishing the vocational and skills center, considering its importance to human and societal development.
The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) reports that the deputy governor led the ITF boss to inspect facilities at the various departments of the institution.
