Trader jailed 2 years for stealing MTN inverter batteries

An upper Area Court in Kasuwan Nama, on Monday in Jos sentenced a 20-year-old trader, Nuhu Mohammed to two  years imprisonment for inverter batteries from the office of MTN.
Delivering judgment, the judge, Mr Daniel Damulak,  sentenced Mohammed following a guilty plea,
Damulak however gave him an option to pay a fine of N100,000.
He held that the punishment would serve as deterrent to those who would want to indulge in such criminal acts.
 
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported in Dec. 12, 2021 by Mr James Ochigbo of Angwan Rukuba, who is the complainant.
 
The prosecutor said that the convict and his friends, at large, broke into the MTN Nigeria office in Joz and stole inverter batteries.

He said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 58 and 271 and  is punishable under sections 59 and 272 of the Plateau Penal CodeLlaw.
