An Islamic sect, the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’Ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) 2022 Annual  National Preaching held in Bauchi, had boosted economic activities in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the annual national  preaching of the JIBWIS, under the leadership of Sheikh Sani  Jingir, was held at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa stadium, Bauchi, and attracted an influx of people from across the country.

Some small business owners and petty traders, in separate interviews with NAN on Sunday, acknowledged that the influx of people had boosted the local economy.

Mr Aliyu Gano, a second hand clothes vendor from Jos, said he made good sales at the national preaching venue.

“I arrived in Bauchi on Wednesday with my goods, and  from Wednesday to today Sunday, I know how much I realize, I thank God,” he said.

13-year old Zainab Mahmud, who sold sachets of water at the venue, said she made brisk sales at the venue, selling not less than 17 bags of sachets of water to the people that thronged the stadium.

She said that on a normal day, she sells only one bag and a few would remain that she would take back home, saying that with the influx of people she sold more than 3 to 4 bags a day.

On his part, Mr Jameel Yaya, a hotel owner, said the national preaching had boosted commercial activities in Bauchi metropolis.

“There was an increase in demand for accommodation, we were able to have more customers who Lodged in our hotel as a result of the event.

“We did our business within the three days of the National preaching; I don’t mind, they should come back next month,” he said.

Hajiya Mairo Tanimu, a food vendor at the venue, said business was good at the venue of the National preaching.

“In fact I can’t give an account of my profits from the sales of food, I cook rice, corn food, moi moi , yam, sweet potatoes ,water and soft drinks.

“So, it is very open that I make good profits , despite the small small challenges with the customers some would eat and forget to pay or deliberately left, but all the same we have to appreciate God,”
