“Let me remind the celebrants that as they celebrate, they should also, bear in mind the huge responsibilities the promotion places on them.

“This is because, as generals, a lot of resources have been invested in you to get to this level.

“Therefore, the Nigerian Army and indeed the entire nation rely on the wealth of knowledge, character and professionalism you have gathered over the years to foster a more secured country,” he said.

The minister called for the support, sacrifice and steadfastness of the senior officers to tackle the security challenges bedevilling the country.

“You must all come together to develop an enduring solution that will completely bring these challenges to an end.

“You must bear in mind that the business of soldiering is not an individual task but a collective responsibility.

“I, therefore, enjoin you to continue to give your maximum support to the Chief of Army Staff and other constituted authorities to facilitate the attainment of the national security objectives,” he added.

The minister reiterated the commitment of the Federal Government to provide the Armed Forces with the required resources to discharge its responsibilities.

According to him, this is evident in the procurement of several armoured vehicles, artillery guns, ships and aircrafts as well as other platforms to facilitate the conduct of military operations.
