The South-South Zonal Office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has flagged-off Operation Eagle Eye 2021 in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Aba Road, Port Harcourt.
The flag-off commenced with a courtesy call on the FRSC Sector Commander in Rivers, Salisu Galadunci, by NEMA’s South-South Zonal Coordinator, Mr Godwin Tepikor, on Friday.
Tepikor informed the FRSC Commandant during the visit that the initiative was part of NEMA’s mandate in the area of coordinating sister organisations in disaster management in Nigeria.
He appealed to motorists to be on the side of caution as they ply the roads this season.
“Operation Eagle Eye is a complimentary effort of NEMA to collaborate with the FRSC whose primary mandate is road traffic management to be able to secure the roads throughout the yuletide.
“NEMA is very much interested in reducing disaster of any form. Hence, the need for this collaboration to ensure that safety on the roads,” he said.
The FRSC Sector Commander, in his remarks, thanked NEMA for the visit and pledged the continued collaboration and support of the FRSC Rivers Command to the agency.
Galadunci assured that the joint exercise would ensure a zero accident yuletide in Rivers.
