An Ilorin-based legal practitioner, Mr Moshood Aliyu, on Saturday advised youths to build their careers and shun desperation to seek greener pastures overseas.

Aliyu noted that Nigerian youths were becoming so desperate to leave the country that they abandoned their carriers.

He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin that many youths were losing focus on the need to add value to their lives.

He noted that they’d rather spend huge sums of money to obtain visas leading to nowhere and end up not achieving anything even after travelling abroad.

“Youths need more orientation. It is not always greener overseas as believed by Nigeria youths. You can plan yourself and make it big in Nigeria.

“Some prefer to go abroad to engage in hard or menial jobs and reject the more convenient and juicy job opportunities in Nigeria.

“Some will travel abroad without a recognised certificate. They regard European countries as paradise where everything is easy.

“It is not as easy out there, contrary to what as they believe.

“Stop being desperate to travel abroad. You can also make it in Nigeria,’’ he admonished.

He also advised youths to stop being deceived by fake travel agents who fleeced them of their monies while assuring that they could get them visas to travel abroad.

He admonished Nigerian youths to believe in Nigeria and to stop regarding foreign countries as their paradise.

Aliyu called on journalists and NGOs to embark on youths re-orientation to discourage needless emigration.
