Governor Fintiri Lauds PCN For Securing Educational Institutions

Peace Corps of Nigeria has been commended for playing a very important role in assisting the government to sanitize institutions of learning in the State against all forms of criminality and insecurity.

This was contained in a letter of commendation signed by Muktar Aminu Tukur, Director Human Capital Development, on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Adamawa State, Hon. Wilbina Jackson.

The State government hailed the Corps for responding promptly to the call of the Ministry on the issue of vandalism and wanton destruction of school properties by some dissidents and intruders.

The letter read ‘‘I am directed to write a commendation letter for playing a very important role in assisting the government and in particular the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Yola in an effort to curb all acts of criminalities going on in and around our institutions of learning especially the secondary school…we assure you of our support towards achieving this objective’’

The State Command of Peace Corps of Nigeria in Adamawa recently apprehended some suspects who have been responsible for the vandalism of bunks and Almond cables in schools and colleges across the State.

Handing the suspects over to Officers and Men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the State for further investigationand neccessary action, the PCN State Commandant, Patriot John Habila noted that it is part of PCN effort to curb all forms of criminalities in Schools and Colleges across the country, he alleged that the suspects were responsible for the invasion of schools in the State, adding that they were apprehended based on intelligence gathering conducted by officers of Corps.

Patriot Habila said that when he got a call from the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of the Education, Hajia Aishatu Abubakar Umar requesting that officers of the Peace Corps do well to curb the incessant invasion of the General Murtala Mohammed College, Yola where bunks that are used by students in the hostel were stolen, he had to swing into action at once to ensure the culprit are brought to book.

The NSCDC thanked PCN for the effort and encouraged them to keep the good work going, adding that they should always inform them of any issue that have to do with vandalism of government properties.
