Nigerian Youths set to unveil compact on COVID-19
The Nigerian Youth Compact on COVID-19 says it is set to be the first of its kind in Africa to adopt the Global Compact for youths in Humanitarian Action and COVID-19 response.
Millicent Umoru, Head of publicity of the organisation, made the disclosure in a statements issue in Abuja
Umoru said that unveiling of the Nigerian Youth Compact on COVID-19 had been slated to hold on Tuesday June 2, 2020 in Abuja
She said that the compact was expected to engage over 10 million youths in various Humanitarian COVID-19 response.
“The compact is aimed at domesticating the global concept to complement Federal government’s effort and the private sector initiative in addressing the coronavirus pandemic ravaging the world,” She said.
Umoru also said that the compact would serve as a report of and testimony to the transformation taking place in the various communities across the country.
According to her, the idea of the planned programme was imperative for creating opportunities for meaningful engagement of young people in the fight Coronavirus as well for youth driving programme during and beyond COVID-19.
