COVID-19 Pandemic, Insecurity Affected Nigeria Workers Badly – AUPCTRE
The Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE) has said that the global rampage of COVID-19 pandemic and the pathetic rate of insecurity had seriously affected Nigeria Workers
Comrade Benjamin Anthony President of AUPCTRE made the remarks during the National Women Commission (NWC) skills acquisition workshop on Thursday in Makurdi, Benue State
Many workers are battling with jobs lost, poor salaries, percentage salaries payment and inability to meet basic needs due to constant price increase of commodities, accommodation and school fees, Benjamin Said
Benjamin also lauded the efforts, resilience, dedication, accountability and prudent management of the union resources by the executive members of the women wing
The Labour Leader quoted a research which had identified women as the wheels pivoting the economy of a nation
He also said that Women contribution to the social and economic development is essential and on this strength the leadership of AUPCTRE considered it necessary to organized this workshop to educate , sensitize and refocus women leaders across the state to enable them contribute to the general growth and development of the union and Nigeria society.
Earlier, Comrade Lami Longse Chairperson National Women Commission (NWC), had said that the program was planned to hold in the year 2020 in fulfilment of the Union obligation to educate and broaden members vision but was rescheduled due to challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
She further emphasized that the women commission has earlier facilitated the training of all zonal women chairperson and secretaries in Keffi, Nasarawa State, where they were trained on skills acquisitions and empowerment
Longse, Urges all participants and beneficiaries of the workshop to share knowledge acquired to impact on other women leaders of the union in their various state councils
Aluta News reports that about 80 women actively participated in the skills acquisition workshop consisting of State Chairperson and Secretaries from the 36 States and Federal Capital Territory Abuja
