Security Forces Nab Most Wanted IPOB Leader In South East

The Nigerian Army has arrested Awurum Eze, the Second in Command to the late IPOB/ESN leader, Ikonso, in Aba, Abia State.

In a statement by the Director of Public Relations, Brigadier-General Mohammed Yerima, the Army said that the 48-year-old Awurum Eze, a native of Umoneke Nta, Isiala-Mbano LGA, Imo State, had on the 4th of May 2021, escaped when the Intelligence Response Team stormed his house in the Isiala Mbano village, where he was hiding.

But after weeks of operation, he was eventually tracked down and apprehended on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, in Aba.

Eze who has been on the wanted list of the security agents for more than three months is one of the main sponsors of the numerous killings in Imo State and some of the captured IPOB /ESN terrorists, had named him as their key mastermind and Second in Command to the late Ikonso.

According to them, after the death of Ikonso, only Awurum has a direct communication link with Nnamdi Kanu.
