Customs FOU zone “B” seizes Indian hemp, goods with DPV worth N40m
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘B’ says it confiscated Items with duty paid value worth N40.5m within its area of operations.
Comptroller of the Zone, Mr Al-Bashir Hamisu, said this on Wednesday in Kaduna while briefing newsmen on the development.
According to him,some of the items seized where 373 bags of foreign parboiled rice ,45 kegs of vegetable oil,48 bailed of second hand clothes.
The controller also said that 484 parcels of Indian hemp were also confiscated around Kebbi state and handed over to the commander of Narcotics, Mr Uche Iyke who is also the acting commander of the Nigeria Drugs law enforcement agency (NDLEA) Kaduna state for necessary action.
Contr. Hamisu said that the gesture was part of its inter agency collaboration which brings about efficiency in service delivery.
The control emphasised that rice importation into the country remained prohibited, adding that Federal government has a robust Agriculture for local rice production.
“The local Miller’s provide direct and indirect jobs for our people ,supporting importation will help in collapsing local production and loss of jobs, ” he said.February
