NYCN hails Nasarawa assembly for considering youths develoment commission bill
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Nasarawa State Chapter has commended the Nasarawa State House of Assembly for presenting the Bill for the establishment of Youth Development Commission which had passed through first reading.
The Nasarawa Chairman of NYCN, Malam Idris Ojoko, made the commendation in a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday in Lafia, the state Capital.
NAN reports that a coalition of youth groups in Nasarawa recently presented a communique to Gov. Abdullahi Sule and State Assembly, requesting the establishment of Youth Development Commission in the state.
Ojoko said the the prompt response of the assembly to the request of the youth had again reinforce confidence on the government of Nasarawa state, especially the legislative arm.
” In this regard and we are very happy about it. We are therefore calling on the leadership of the house to maintain the pace at which this bill has been presented.”
The youth leader assured that the council would continue to mobilise youths and other relevant stakeholders to give necessary support to the assembly to ensure a logical completion and passage of the bill and its subsequent assent by the governor.
” The National Youth Council of Nigeria, Nasarawa State commend the prompt response of the Speaker and members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly to the request of the Nasarawa State youths by presenting the Bill for the establishment of the Youth Development Commission.”
Ojoko stressed the need for continuous engagement of youths by the government of Nasarawa, at least quarterly to discuss and appraise critical issues affecting them.
He also canvassed for adequate budgetary allocation to the youth sector and their efficient involvement in its implementation.
