Rector urges newly employed staff to be honestly, avoid corruption

Dr Abdullahi Ahmed, Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, Nasarawa State has urged newly employed staff of the institution to imbibe the culture of honestly and shun any act that could tarnish their image.

Ahmed gave the advice at the Induction and Orientation Lecture for the polytechnic newly employed staff, held on Wednesday in Nasarawa town, Nasarawa State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the theme of the lecture was,” Promoting Ethics in Work Place for Quality Service Delivery.”

The rector also enjoined the new staff to abide by the rules and regulations governing the affairs of the institution and ensure that they carry out their duties with diligence and commitment to uphold the reputation of the polytechnic.

” You have chosen the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa and the Polytechnic have chosen you. Since you joined us at this crucial period, challenge yourself to become the best possible employee you can be.

” Never stop striving for excellence. Please do continue to work hard diligently with honesty and help to produce a corrupt free Nigerian State.

” You are the future of Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa and I am confident you will be assets to both the institution and society,” the rector said.

The Vice Chancellor, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Prof. Suleiman Mohammed, urged the newly employed staff to remain focused and be very serious with their schedules, saying ” you are employed for a purpose.”

Mohammed while speaking on the topic “Conflict Resolution and Disciplinary Action,” also urged the staff to eschew all moral vices and other negative tendencies that may derail the institution from achieving it’s goals.

” The polytechnic doesn’t tolerate misconduct by staff at any level and therefore sanction awaits erring staff,” the VC said.

Responding, one of the newly employed staff, Malam Abubakar Yahaya, pledged to obeyed the polytechnic rules and regulations and contribute immensely toward the development of the institution.
