Nasarawa LG Election: NYCN urges youth to shun money inducement
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Nasarawa State Chapter, has urged youths to shun money inducement during electioneering campaigns as the preparations for Local Governments election in the state draw near.
Malam Umar Rabiu, Acting Chairman of NYCN in the state, gave the advice in an interview with newsmen on Sunday in Keffi town, Nasarawa State.
Rabiu, who expressed concern over the increase influence of money in politics, urged government at all levels to muscle the political will to bring to justice political offenders in the country.
The youth leader emphasised the need for the youth to start leveraging on their voting capacity in order to get themselves involved in governance.
He observed that the Nigerian political environment was saturated with too many factors that served as hindrance to youth participation in politics.
Rabiu advised government to implementation laws on electoral finances in Nigeria and also create an enabling political environment to encourage more youths participation in politics.
He, however, enjoined youths to develop interest in vocations that would better place them for effective leadership.
He further stressed the need for youth to develop the mindset to run for offices to win and not for appointments.
Rabiu also admonished political parties in the state to ensure internal party democracy in the process of electing their flag bearers for the forthcoming local government elections.

”Youth should also equip themselves intellectually to better ask questions on governance and participation in the electoral process,” Rabiu said.
He advised electorate to vote for credible candidates who venture into politics to enhance the living conditions of the ordinary people not otherwise.
The youth leader, however, commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa for appointing many youths into key positions and urged them to support the governor deliver good governance.
Aluta News recalls that the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) said it has scheduled the conduct of the state Local Government election for February 2021.
