UN International Day of Peace:PCN hails security forces for keeping peace in Nigeria
The Peace Corps of Nigeria with other partners mark the United Nation International Day of Peace, appreciating and commending Federal Government and the patriotic efforts of gallant security forces in keeping peace in Nigeria
Ambassador Dickson Akoh, National commandant, Peace Corps of Nigeria gave the commendation during the peace day celebration in Abuja on Monday
Akoh stressed the urgent need to further explore the ideals of conflict prevention through Peace education and social justice
He emphasized that conflict, being a natural consequence of human coexistence, underscored the divergence in beliefs, cultures, tribes ,races and religions.
These divergent views,he said, made it imperative for Nigerians to place premium on the “need to better understand our diversities to decipher common grounds to live in harmony regardless of our individual differences.”
The Peace Corps boss said that Peace as a concept remained a knowledge-driven and could only manifest when the people had peace within themselves and boost development in the country.
The Royal father of the event, Dr Audu Shaban Nizazo, who is also 3rd Etsu of Kwali commended PCN for volunteering to ensure Peace at all times.
The monarch called on President Muhammad Buhari to assent to the Pace Corps Bill before the end of his tenure in order to spur officers and men of the corps to do more for the nation.
