Lockdown: NYCN lauds FCT water board over stable water supply
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), has commended the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Water Board, for ensuring stable water supply in Abuja throughout the lockdown, occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chairman of NYCN, FCT Council, Mr Ango Suleiman, made the commendation at a news conference, on Saturday in Abuja.
Suleiman, who urged the water board to sustain its efforts, enjoined other essential service providers to emulate the board in providing basic services to the people at this critical time.
He said that though workers of the board were categorised as essential service providers, they were not getting the deserved attention and recognition by the public.
The youth leader noted that without water in homes, the lockdown would not have been possible, as it was the most essential thing in every home.
He also applauded the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello, and Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Aliyu, for their unwavering support to the water board and other agencies in the territory.
According to him, the FCT is blessed with two proactive ministers, noting that while Bello is coordinating to ensure stable services in the territory, Aliyu is ensuring the smooth running of the area councils by providing palliatives to vulnerable residents of the territory.
Similarly, Suleiman appreciated the Abuja Electricity Development Company (AEDC) for improved power supply during the lockdown and encouraged the company to step up effort in provision of effective services. NAN
