COVID-19: NHIS releases 3 months payment for enrollees
The National Health Insurance Scheme NHIS says it has released advance payment of three months premium for all enrollees of the scheme with an advice for Nigerians not to panic assuring that “coronavirus is beatable.”
Professor Mohammed Nasir Sambo, the Executive Secretary, NHIS disclosed this to News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) in Abuja on Friday
Nasir said that from April to June, all NHIS enrollees could visit their health centres and demand for services without any hitch
According to him, the move was done to ensure enrollees enjoy stable health services during the COVID-19 pandemic period.
He said that inline with the core mandate of the organization, NHIS had been integrated into joining hands with the Federal Ministry of Health to fight COVID-19 pandemic from spreading in Nigeria.
He further advised Nigerians to only obtain information on COVID-19 from a credible source like WHO platform, Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, Federal Ministry of Health and NCDC information portal
Nasir also called on Nigerians to adhere to the safety rules and advice as laid down or thought by professionals during this Coronavirus pandemic period
He added that the lockdown order by the government was not intended to punish anybody but a measure that would enable all Nigerians stay safe and alive.
He said that NHIS was working in close collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and state health insurance agencies with the support of World Health Organization, DFID with other international agencies to develop a social insurance response against the coronavirus epidemic.
This he said became necessary to see the end of this global catastrophe.
