NYCN : Northern Forum dissociates itself from plan to rubbish peace corps by Sukubo led Council
The Northern Forum of the National Youth Council of Nigeria has dissociated itself from the lingering desperation aimed at bringing down or rubbishing the image and integrity of the Peace Corps of Nigeria by Sukubo led Council
Engineer Saleh Alhassan Kubah, Secretary of the Forum, stated this in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja.
Kubah disclosed that the leadership of the Northern Forum of the NYCN would convoke a meeting of its critical stakeholders to take a firm and resolute stand on the protracted leadership crisis and the latest development in the council.
” The attention of the Northern Forum has been drawn to the seemingly protracted crisis in the leadership of the NYCN, which has degenerated into personality and corporate character smearing by certain individuals and cliques in the council.
” While leadership tussles have become characteristic in the council, it is disheartening that the present situation has turned out to be vindictive, sectionalised and trivialised and targeted at certain quarters.
” Let it be stated categorically that the act of personalising issues with ethnocentric schemes being hatched by these ‘new leadership’ is unacceptable.
” It has become glaring that the targeting at Northern personalities in the Council structures is the order of the day.
” In the light of these, the Northern Forum of the National Youth Council of Nigeria dissociates itself from the lingering desperation aimed at bringing down or rubbishing the image and integrity of the Peace Corps of Nigeria soon whose Founder and National Commandant of the Northern extraction.”
He stated that whoever was inclined and attached to the machinations of the Sukubo’s led position and protest against the Nigerian Peace Corps Bill does so at their own and personal risks.
Kubah asked that in the history of NYCN has any of the Northern leadership treated the South in such manner and reckless disregard.
He enjoined all affiliate organs of the NYCN in the North to disengage and disregard any ulterior motives and agents of the Sokubo-led leadership.
” In pursuance to the above, the leadership of the Northern Forum of the NYCN is convoking a meeting of its critical stakeholders so as to take a firm and resolute stand on the protracted leadership crisis and the latest development in the Council,” he said.
They have failed already, becouse peace corps is in the hands of God.
