Nigerians have been encouraged not to despair but be more committed and steadfast in developing the Nation, by boosting local productions and enhancing self reliance.

A community leader and Real Estate Developer, Chief Toyin Amuzu stated this in Abeokuta while urging Nigerians to see the Country’s 60th independent anniversary as a time for sobber reflections.

The Okanlomo of Ijeun Land, Chief Toyin Amuzu who in retrospect lamented the dwindling fortunes of the Nation in terms of economy, security, quality of education, politics, health, social welfare and others, said “that the Nation still exists as one, means we can overcome our challenges, if we strive to be more committed”.

He urged Nigerians to take seriously the kind of people they allow in positions of authority stressing that competence and merit must be at the forefront of choosing people for leadership positions.

Chief Amuzu who blamed leadership mismanagement and incompetence for the Nation’s woes said, “there is still hope if we shun sentiments and put right people in the right positions”.

He advised, government at all tiers to look inwards and invest heavily in production of goods and services used in the Country, especially agricultural products to boost food sufficiency.

Chief Amuzu also advised government to do away with over- taxing the people who are already impoverished and look for genuine ways to support small and medium scale enterprises saying “no Nation can be better or move forward, without production and self reliance”.

According to him, ” the government must encourage and support indigenous industries and stop capital flight of our monies while giving out jobs. This in no small measure will ensure jobs for our people and reduce poverty”.

Chief Amuzu expressed optimism that Nigeria will become better and great, if we all come together in unity with patriotic zeal to rework the Nation.

He however stressed the need to genuinely look into the concerns of those agitating for regional government or self actualisation and work on modalities to stay together or allow them to go.
