The Chairman of the Governing Board of the Taraba State Bio-Entrepreneurship Innovation and Solutions Agency (TASBISA), Governor Agbu Kefas, has charged members of the Board to provide purposeful leadership, strengthen institutional governance and promote innovation-driven economic development in the state.
Governor Kefas who was represented by the Executive Vice Chairman TASBISA gave the charge during the Agency’s first formal Governing Board meeting held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, describing the Board’s responsibility as historic and service-oriented.
He urged members to deploy their wealth of knowledge, experience and professional networks towards building an institution capable of transforming Taraba’s abundant biological and agricultural resources into sustainable economic opportunities.
The Governor explained that TASBISA was established to move the State beyond dependence on raw materials through value addition, industrial processing, innovation and commercialisation.
He described the Agency as a strategic platform connecting farmers with processors, researchers with entrepreneurs, innovators with investors, and natural resources with sustainable markets.
According to him, “today is more than an occasion for us to sit around a table and deliberate on institutional matters. It is an opportunity to reaffirm our collective commitment to a vision whose significance extends far beyond the the establishment of another Government Agency”.
He added, “we are gathered to help lay the foundation of an institution that has the potential to redefine how Taraba State harnesses it’s abundant biological resources, Agricultural wealth, scientific knowledge and enterpreneural talents for sustainable economic development”.
Governor Kefas further cautioned members against allowing the Board to become merely ceremonial, stressing that their responsibilities must go beyond periodic meetings and approvals to active contributions towards achieving the Agency’s mandate.
He outlined key priorities for the Board, including transparent and accountable governance, alignment of programmes with the state’s economic needs, promotion of innovation and enterprise development, mobilisation of strategic partnerships, and the establishment of a performance-driven culture anchored on measurable results.
The Governor called for collective responsibility and sustained collaboration, expressing confidence that TASBISA would become a major driver of job creation, wealth generation and sustainable economic transformation in Taraba State.
In his welcome address, the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of TASBISA, Elder Josiah Bitrus Habu, PhD, expressed appreciation to Governor Kefas for his visionary leadership and commitment to establishing the Agency.
He described the meeting as a significant milestone in the collective effort to transform Taraba’s biological resources, agricultural potential and scientific knowledge into sustainable wealth and prosperity.
According to him, “TASBISA represents a vision to move Taraba State beyond the production of raw materials towards value addition, innovation, entrepreneurship and the commercialisation of our natural resources.”
Elder Habu emphasised that the Agency’s success would ultimately be determined by its impact on the lives of the people rather than administrative activities.
“The greatness of TASBISA will not be measured by the number of meetings we hold, but by the enterprises we create, the livelihoods we improve, the innovations we commercialise and the prosperity we bring to our people,” he stated.
He assured the Board of Management’s commitment to transparency, professionalism and constructive collaboration, adding that the experience and expertise of members would provide the strategic direction needed to build a strong and result-oriented institution.
A major highlight of the meeting was the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with selected media organisations, aimed at strengthening strategic communication, public awareness and visibility for the Agency’s programmes and activities.
