Senator Uche Lilian Ekwunife, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Anambra Central Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, has urged voters to assess political candidates based on their achievements, experience and capacity to deliver, rather than sentiments.
Ekwunife made the appeal during a visit to Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State on Monday, where she expressed appreciation for the warm reception she received from community leaders and other stakeholders.
The senator said the recognition of her contributions to the community had encouraged her to intensify efforts towards improving the lives of the people.
According to her, community leaders highlighted several projects and empowerment initiatives attributed to her, including the construction of market stalls, three access roads, two erosion control projects, business grants for more than 50 beneficiaries and employment opportunities for graduates.
She maintained that such projects and interventions should be important considerations for voters when deciding who deserves their mandate in the forthcoming elections.
“Vote me on account of my achievements, not sentiments,” Ekwunife declared, urging residents to look beyond political distractions and promises that may not translate into tangible development.
She stressed that electoral decisions should be guided by verifiable records of service, competence and the ability to deliver meaningful results for the people.
The APC candidate also urged residents to evaluate the policies and programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, pointing to infrastructure development, efforts to stabilise the foreign exchange market and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as areas deserving public assessment.
While acknowledging the constitutional right of voters to support candidates of their choice, Ekwunife said political decisions should reflect personal conviction, leadership performance and the collective interest of the people.
As she seeks another mandate to represent Anambra Central in the Senate, she highlighted her legislative experience, political connections at the national level and commitment to grassroots development as strengths she believes would enhance her representation.
She further called on voters across the senatorial district to compare the records of all candidates and determine who has demonstrated the capacity to deliver practical results.
Ekwunife reaffirmed her commitment to effective representation, community development, economic empowerment and the creation of greater opportunities for residents of Anambra Central.
She urged the electorate to make informed choices in the 2027 general elections by prioritising performance and development over political sentiments.
