A 35-year-old woman, Añulika Onyeanusi, has pleaded not guilty to a 14-count charge bordering on the alleged rape, sexual abuse and exploitation of her two daughters, aged seven and nine, before an Anambra State High Court in Awka.
The defendant is accused of allegedly sexually abusing the children with a sex toy and involving them in the production of pornographic materials and performances.
According to the charges filed by the Anambra State Government, the alleged offences took place between November 2025 and September 2026 at her residence on Ezego Ojoto Street, Akpaka GRA, Onitsha.
The 14-count charge includes allegations of rape, sexual abuse and exploitation, compelling the minors to engage in sexual activities, emotional and psychological abuse, and acts that allegedly placed them in fear of physical injury.
Leading the prosecution, the Anambra State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN, alleged that the defendant knowingly and intentionally penetrated the children’s vagina, anus and mouth with a sex toy.
The charges were instituted under relevant provisions of the Anambra State Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law, 2017, and the Child’s Rights Law, 2006.
When the matter came up before the court, Onyeanusi pleaded not guilty to all 14 counts.
Following her plea, her counsel, Mrs Chikodili Nwaka-Ohuoha, made an application for bail on her behalf.
Justice Peace Otti, who presides over the Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Court in Awka, adjourned the case until November 27, 2026, for a ruling on the bail application.
The court is expected to determine the bail request on the adjourned date.
The allegations remain before the court, and the defendant has denied all 14 counts.
