The Special Adviser to the Kebbi State Governor on Civil Service Matters, Sufyanu Garba Bena, has described the recent cash donations by Governor Nasir Idris to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area as heart-touching and a display of concern for their plight.
The politician, who was speaking to journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday, said the gesture had made the people believe more in the community-driven leadership of the governor and would motivate political office holders to also cater for their constituencies.
He stated that the IDPs, who had been living on the little support from the benevolence of the people of the area, would have some relief from the one hundred million naira donated by the governor, in addition to the ten million naira monthly financial support.
Bena, who is also the Director-General of the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival, thanked Governor Idris for embarking on a sympathy visit to the Zuru Emirate recently to interact with communities affected by security challenges.
”Our communities are appreciative of the efficacious efforts of the governor to surmount insecurity and restore peace to all localities. He has succeeded in driving away fright from the victims of attack and helping them with financial support to return to normal life,” he added.
Bena thanked Governor Idris for constructing the deplorable Dabai–Mahuta–Koko federal road, which had been a nightmare for commuters but is now a source of joy after completion, making the journey easier and more comfortable.
”After receiving reimbursement from the Federal Government as promised by President Tinubu, I am passionately appealing to the governor to seek another approval from the President to construct the Zuru–Wasagu–Bena road, which has been in a bad shape.
”Our people are predominantly farmers and traders contributing enormous economic benefits to the nation, but the problem of the road has retarded further progress,” Bena said.
